National Hot Buttered Rum Day



Hot Buttered Rum Sauce

Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter (1/2 stick)
1 cup dark brown sugar
1 pinch ground cardamom
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/4 cup dark rum or 1/4 cup spiced rum
1/2 lime, juice of

Directions:
Melt butter over medium heat in a small saucepan.
Add the brown sugar and stir until dissolved. Add in the cardamom, vanilla and the rum.
Continue to cook and stir until sauce begins to thicken, about 1 or 2 minutes.
Off the heat and stir in the fresh lime juice.

Serve immediately over waffles, pancakes, cakes, fruit, pudding, or ice cream.
